Carolines Attempt At Blogging

Hola mi amigos,

I have a muy loco story to tell you. Long story short, we were informed Tuesday night that another mission group staying in Guatemala was coming Wednesday to Prayer Mountain to have worship / do some labor with us… no biggie, right? Like “cool we will have some help / people to talk to”. didn’t think much about it…

AND THENNNNN

I found out they were a group from South Carolina.. like what, that’s wild. Stay with me though, I’m still not at the crazy part.

AND THENNNNN

they get here and we get to talking and their church is from Orangeburg. Orangeburg. Orangeburg? Like what?

Some live in Orangeburg, Saint Matthews, Wagner, Swansea, and they even knew where Sandy Run is! If you don’t know the area, those are all relatively really small towns all clustered together. So to some that’s not a big deal. Let me explain, it’s not like they came from a big well known city where thousands upon thousands of people live. No, most of those towns I listed have some, a few, and even no stop lights. So them coming from towns in my area in itself is really salvaje. But we’re still not at the loco part.

AND THENNNNN

A man named Mike and I got to some good ol’ country talkin and we start to talk about Sandy Run and what part of the town I live on. I tell him.

AND THENNNNN

He goes, “oh really my daughter used to live there.” He precedes to give me directions through the neighborhood to get to her old house. He said “yea she lived around the bend and up a hill and lived right there to the right”… I was like “no way, your daughter was my next door neighbor!” I was like what is even happening right now, this is so unbelievably random and bizzar. Among all the individuals who could have shared this experience with me in this moment, it extends beyond merely those who are my spiritual neighbors to include my physical neighbors as well! muy loco

Dios obra de manera loca. God works in crazy ways.

Out of all the countries for that group to have gone to, they came to Guatemala.

Out of all the mission opportunities in Guatemala, they were lead to prayer mountain.

Out of all the times they could have been here, we were here together.

Besides the immediate impact of them being here with fellowship and encouragement, I’m not too sure why God led us together. I had an amazing time getting to know some of them and their stories and even though I had never met them before, they felt like home. However, I don’t think God bringing them here was for me. I know there’s a bigger plan behind them coming here and us meeting. I just don’t know what that is yet.

I’ve been trying to memorize Isaiah 55. And verses 8-9 talks about how His ways are higher than ours and His thoughts greater than ours. 11 talks about how His seeds will always bear fruit wherever he sends it.

Now I’m just waiting to see what type of fruit this seed produces.

over and out

love,

Caroline

  2. that gave me goose bumps for sure!
What an incredible God we serve! He definitely can orchestrate the seemingly the most random events to speak to us & remind us who He is. How awesome that you had a chance to visit & share “home” with miles from South Carolina. prayers continue for the journey as you take Sandy Run to the far reaches of the world. Go with Gid & continue to be blessed!
